Qur’an vs Cell Phone

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Qur’an like we treat our cell phones:

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it as we traveled?

What if we used it in case of any emergency?

This is something to make you go….. hmmm… Where is my Qur’an?

Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don’t ever have to worry about our Qur’an being disconnedted.

Just Some Philosophies of Life

Philosophy of Life 1: Your intellect (the thinking of a human person) is the key to revive yourself. So 1st change your thinking, then let your emotions follow it and let your actions consistently follow your revived thoughts.

Philosophy of Life 2: Remember, whenever you do an action, it’s because YOU chose to do it. Not anyone else. It was completely up to you. So don't go off blaming anyone else for your situation, especially u know WHO.

Philosophy of Life 3: What is the value of knowledge, really??? Do you really think it holds any value when it’s just a known fact??? If you do, then you are just like a parrot, where you are saying things but can't comprehend them yourself. All the knowledge in the world means NOTHING, unless they are followed by your actions.

Philosophy of Life 4: Even though your thinking is the key to reviving yourself, an eminent part is the spiritual aspects. You MUST have a balance of both INTELLECTUAL AND SPIRITUAL revival. Devoid of either is what led to the failure of many.

Assalamu ‘alikum,

Imagine this…you are ready to get married…during your search you find someone and the girl/guy says, “you can ask me only 3 questions, nothing more, and then you have to make a decision”

What would you ask her/him? What would the top 3 most fundamental questions be?

Take care

No Health Benefits (Maslaha) of Fasting:

Asalamu alaikum Xangers,

A dangerous pattern of thinking is spreading during this month. Some Muslim scholars are trying hard to prove the health benefits of fasting based on scientific facts. By doing so, they are unintentionally diluting the message of Islam and obscuring the objectives of Islamic ruling. The only benefit in fasting is worshipping our Creator, strengthening our link with the Creator and attaining Jannah. There is no other benefit we should seek. Seeking benefit is the prime criteria of the kufars. Every decision or policy - be it cloning, economics, organ transplant, immigration, even health care - is dictated by benefit and sensual pleasure. For muslims, the function of determining that a certain matter is of benefit (maslaha) or not is for the Creator of the universe, Allah swt  ONLY!! It is only the Creator of man who understands the reality of man. Thus, no one other than the Creator of man, Allah swt, can certainly decide what is maslaha and what is mafsadah (evil) for him. It is true that man can think that a matter is good or bad (maslahah or mafsadah) for him, but he can't be sure of that.

If this kind of thinking start festering among Muslims there will come a time when people will start questioning the benefit behind every ruling ordained by Allah and thus abandoning those aspects of the deen which does not bring any benefit and pleasure. So benefit lies only from the shariah(what the Creator prescribed). We ought to remember that our relationship with the Creator is that of obedience.

''I did not create the Jinn and the humans but to yawbudoon (submit to me).''

Take Care

Wa-salaam

Are we paying Zakat or is it Sadakah?

Asalamu alaikum Xangers,

I want to divert from my previous posts because I came up on a question which I don’t know the answer to and I want to hear what your opinions are. This brother I know brought this up.

The Question:

You know how zakat is a fard(obligatory) and all. And its 2.5% of your yearly earnings. Zakat is distributed to pay for the ones in need. For those who pay this, who do you give it to? I know many people just send it back home. But zakat can ONLY be collected by the State and they are the ONLY ones who can distribute it. But we don’t have a state now. So is what we are giving considered zakat really? Or is it considered Sadakah (charity) instead??

I want to hear everyone’s opinions on this. It’s a very intriguing question.

Wa-salaam
